안녕하세요! 청라에서 살고있는 한 학생입니다! 제가 이번 학교 과제를 통해, 청라 안에서 무단투기를 하는 문제와 원인을 분석하는 기회를 가지게 되었습니다. 이를 통해서, 청라에는 쓰레기를 버리는 이유는 무엇일까를 주제로 담은 내용을 분석하면서 환경미화원분들이 얼마나 열심히 환경을 보호해주시는지 깨달았습니다. 환경보호는 우리 시민들도 열심히 노력해야하는 부분이지만, 바닥에 있는 쓰레기와 청라 주변을 깨끗하게 관리해주셔서 감사합니다!

아래 내용은 이번 과제를 통해서 분석 했던 내용입니다:

1) 인천 청라, 아름다운 청라 호수 공원 Incheon Cheongna, Beautiful Cheongna Lake park

인천 청라는 2003년 8월에 송도, 영종과 함께 동북아 경제중심 핵심지역인 인천경제자유구역으로 지정되었죠. 경제자유구역이란 외국인 투자를 유치하기 위해서 외국 투자 기업에 경영 환경과 생활여건을 마련해 주는 특별 경제구역이죠. 그리고, 청라에는 도시의 중심을 가로지르는 아름다운 호수 공원이 있어요.

아름다운 청라 호수 공원을 깨끗하고 쾌적한 곳으로 보전해야 하고, 이를 위해서 노력하시는 공원 청소반장님 믜 얘기를 듣고 쓰레기와 쓰레기 투기를 줄이는 방법을 생각해 보았어요.

In Incheon, Cheongna, Songdo, and Yeongjong were designated Korea's first free economic zone in 2003 to become the Northeast Asian economic hub. A 'Free Economic Zone' refers to a special economic area created to actively attract foreign investment by enhancing the business environment and living conditions of foreign-invested companies and maximizing the autonomy and investment incentives of companies through deregulation. In the city of Cheongna, a beautiful lake park crosses the city's center.

Cheongna Lake park aims to preserve a clean and pleasant environment. To keep this Lake park clean, I've noticed a park Cleaning team works hard to pick up litter and keep the environment clean. Through this, I thought about how to reduce littering.

2) 쓰레기 무단투기는 도시에 해로워요 Littering is Harmful to the City

쓰레기를 무단투기를 한다면, 도시의 환경이 나빠지는 것은 여러분들은 잘 알고 있죠. 우선 시각적으로는 지저분하고 음식물 쓰레기에는 사람에게 해로운 쥐나 바퀴벌레가 발생하고, 쓰레기가 썩으면서 악취가 발생합니다. 최근 뉴욕시에는 도시 중심에 너무 쥐가 많이 발생하여 쥐를 잡기 위해서 쥐를 잡는 전문가를 채용하였다는 뉴스를 접하였는데, 아마도 이 원인 중에 쓰레기 무단투기가 여러 이유 중에 하나일 것이라고 나는 생각되네요. 또한 쓰레기를 종이, 캔, 병을 분리하지 않고 버리게 되면 쓰레기의 양이 엄청나게 늘어나게 되어서 아마도 머지않은 미래에 우리는 쓰레기 위에 살고 있을 지도 모릅니다.

We all know that littering waste can lead to side effects such as different pollution in the city. First of all, if there is litter on the ground, they are visually unpleasing. Especially for food waste, they can also cause mice and cockroaches to appear near the food waste. Likewise, if the food waste gets rotten, it can create a bad odor for people. Recently, there was news that New York City has hired experts to catch rats as there were so many at the city's center. Littering around the city might have been one factor in why so many rats appeared. If we throw away waste without separating it into paper, cans, and bottles, the amount of trash will increase dramatically, and we might live on litter soon.

3) 쓰레기 무단투기를 왜 할까요? Why Do We Litter?

첫 번째로, 쓰레기를 무단투기하는 가장 큰 이유는 사람들이 무단투기로 인한 문제점에 대한 인식이 부족하기 때문입니다. 내가 버리는 쓰레기의 양이 아주 작은 것이라서 이게 큰 문제가 될 수 있다고 생각하지 않기 때문에 무심코 쓰레기를 버리는 것입니다.

두 번째로, 쓰레기를 버리는 시설이 없어 불편하기 때문입니다. 우리나라뿐만 아니라 세계적으로 최근까지 쓰레기 무단투기를 막기 위해서 공공장소에 쓰레기통을 추가적으로 설치하였습니다. 그러나, 불행하게도 쓰레기통을 추가적으로 설치한다고 해서 쓰레기가 거리에 버려지지 않는다는 것을 보장하지 않습니다.

마지막으로, 강력한 처벌이 없는 경우, 사람들은 무단 투기에 대한 경각심이 부족해질 가능성이 매우 높아집니다.

First, the most common reason there is a lot of litter is a lack of acknowledgment of how an individual's litter can cause big side effects. Some people think littering just a small amount of waste does not affect the environment. This leads them to litter the ground intentionally.

Second, a lack of trash disposal can lead to frequent littering. The lack of trash disposals motivates people to litter on the ground even more. Not only for Korea but internationally, the countries added more trash disposal to the public to decrease litter. Unfortunately, additional trash disposals do not effectively decrease the amount of litter as they can as it also leads people to bring their household trashes.

Lastly, if there are no harsh punishments or policies to regulate littering, people might not be aware of the significance of preventing litter on the ground.

4) 해결 방안 Solution

쓰레기를 버리는 문제를 다루는 이상적인 방법은 사회의 모든 사람들이 책임을 지고 쓰레기를 적절하게 처리하기 위해 최선을 다하는 것입니다. 이러한 이상적인 방법을 이루기 위해서는 정부에서는 적극적인 홍보활동을 하여야 합니다. 그러기 위해서 사람들한테 교육 영상을 보여주며 무단투기의 위험성을 알리는 것입니다. 또한 자원봉사자들을 많이 모아 쓰레기를 줍고 또한 간접적인 홍보를 할 수 있도록 정부는 적극적으로 권장하여야 합니다. 그들이 쓰레기를 주우면서 그 고단함으로 인해 쓰레기 무단투기를 억제할 수 있고, 입소문을 통하여 간접적으로 홍보의 효과를 볼 수 있습니다. 사람들의 인식이 바뀐다면 가장 좋은 해결책이 될 수 있습니다. 그러기 위해서 나부터 이번 여름방학에 쓰레기봉투를 하나 들고 호수 공원으로 가서 쓰레기를 주워 보도록 하겠습니다. 쓰레기를 줍고 있는 사람 옆에서 쓰레기를 버리는 사람은 없을 테니까요.

One of the ideal ways to handle littering is for everyone in society to take responsibility and try their best to properly dispose of their waste. To fulfill this ideal, the government must efficiently promote to the citizens. One of the ways is to make educational videos for people to watch and learn bad influences of littering. Furthermore, we can collect volunteering members to pick up litter to clean the environment and also to directly influence others to acknowledge the issues of littering around Cheongna. If they struggle to pick up litter, this can effectively affect them to think once again about littering. Likewise, the volunteering members can also promote littering to community members. If people change their mindset, this can be an effective way to decrease the level of littering in Cheongna. To change my mindset, starting with me, I will try to go to Cheongna Lake Park with a trash bag and pick up litter during the summer break since there wouldn't be people who would litter on the ground when people pick up the litter.
